So one of my most recent projects was the 'Great British Food' project. Rather than focusing on the obvious, I quite liked the idea of looking more in to the sweets of Great Britain.
I researched thoroughly into old fashioned containers and glass sweet jars. As well a wide variety and range of different sweets made in Britain, everything from the liqourish pipe to flying sauces and jelly beans. Researching into lots of local vintage sweet shops, I visited a few before choosing a vintage sweet shop in Byker called Cloughs Sweet Shop that caught my eye. I chose this shop due to the history behind it as well as being around for over 75 years. When visiting the shop I got a good insight as to what sweets were british, what had been around longest as well as being able to purchase a good variety of sweets for my shoot.
I decided to set up my shoot in my kitchen at home. For the lighting I considering using the spot lights situated in panels above the bench, to light my sweets. For the background I wanted a vintage sweet shop backdrop, and printed off some striped red, white and blue vintage wallpaper. I thought this fitted quite well with my theme and didn't take away from the sweets. I also used eatable sparkly magic dust to cover the bench. It took a few re-positioning and arrangements of the sweets, jars and backdrop before I got this shot which I felt captured the sweets well, made an interesting and striking advertisement photograph and portrayed a wide variety of the different Great British sweets that have been around within the past 75 years.
