Inner Beauty

This is the final image of my last project of 2014! Based on Photo-montage/Surrealism. I wanted to create a Fashion/Beauty image representing a strong and powerful outer self as well as an softer and more delicate inner beauty. I'm quite happy with the final outcome.

Thanks to all involved in the making of this shoot, hope you all like it!Model: Kristina LeikaitÄ—

The Incident Room

'There is no excuse, for domestic abuse'

I based my second project around domestic abuse. I booked out a low star hotel room in Newcastle to set the scene and got a fantastic make-up artist involved, a lighting assistant and two perfect models to fit the roles I wanted to be portrayed in my final image, so here it is!

Models: Kay Mackie and Rudi Ehlela

Weightless

Now into the second year of my degree, for my first project titled 'Weightless' I had to create an advertisement shot, I decided to choose a powerful concept and something that should have more awareness than what it does, Suicide.

Would be nice to know what people think and to get some feedback! Thanks

Photographers Who Inspire Me

A lot of my inspiration comes from a range of High Fashion and Portrait photographers. But my all time favourite Fashion photographer has to be, Lara Jade.

From starting my career in photography I have followed her work through Facebook, Instagram, her Blog and Website from the very early stages of finding my love in photography.

All the work she produces, snapshots she uploads of the set, clothes and make-up on the days of her shoots, videos she posts about how shes created that particular shot, the lighting she has used to create this as well as styling and model scouting. She uploads and shares with us her through her website and other social media sites.

I instantly relate to her work and learn a lot from her. Especially through her videos. Out of all the photographers I have came across, researched into and found she inspires me the most and always has done from day one. She is one of my truest inspirations to photography continuing to inspire me to this day as she grows in the fashion world of photography.

Here is one of her videos I wanted to share with you from her Birthday shoot she created. The final shots are absolutely incredible. Definitely one of my favourite photo shoots she has done. I love the creativity as well as how much the shoot and final photographs develop throughout the day. Which they have captured perfectly in the video. Enjoy!

Mock Advertisement for Kurt Geiger

For my shoe project theme I was given 'Suited and Booted' I wanted to create a high fashion woman approach to the suited and booted theme rather than the obvious mens version. Go for a smart and beautiful black dress with boot heels, a woman you would see on the arm of a man within the same theme.

As well as this I had to choose a brand I wanted to advertise and shoot for. I was wanting to go a black and white vintage, vogue look and when researching into shoe brands I felt Kurt Geiger fitted perfectly. They portrayed the exact style I wanted to go for when taking and photographing my model with the shoes and this is how I came this final photograph and mock advertisement shot for Kurt Geiger.

Great British Sweets

So one of my most recent projects was the 'Great British Food' project. Rather than focusing on the obvious, I quite liked the idea of looking more in to the sweets of Great Britain.

I researched thoroughly into old fashioned containers and glass sweet jars. As well a wide variety and range of different sweets made in Britain, everything from the liqourish pipe to flying sauces and jelly beans. Researching into lots of local vintage sweet shops, I visited a few before choosing a vintage sweet shop in Byker called Cloughs Sweet Shop that caught my eye. I chose this shop due to the history behind it as well as being around for over 75 years. When visiting the shop I got a good insight as to what sweets were british, what had been around longest as well as being able to purchase a good variety of sweets for my shoot.

I decided to set up my shoot in my kitchen at home. For the lighting I considering using the spot lights situated in panels above the bench, to light my sweets. For the background I wanted a vintage sweet shop backdrop, and printed off some striped red, white and blue vintage wallpaper. I thought this fitted quite well with my theme and didn't take away from the sweets. I also used eatable sparkly magic dust to cover the bench. It took a few re-positioning and arrangements of the sweets, jars and backdrop before I got this shot which I felt captured the sweets well, made an interesting and striking advertisement photograph and portrayed a wide variety of the different Great British sweets that have been around within the past 75 years.
